The film was hit on the box office and was the second-highest-grossing movie of 2008. Anushka played Shahid Kapoor Meiyang Chang and Vir Das in the movie Badmash Company. The movie received mixed praises. That same year Anushka Sharma appeared in the movie 'Band Baaja Baaraat' along with Ranveer Singh, in which she played an upper-middle class Punjabi girl who starts her own wedding-planning business. The film received excellent reviews and was deemed a sleeper and a huge success. Anushka's 3-film contract at Yash Raj Films ended with the release of Band Baaja Baaraat.
